  1. Do I have to purchase a meal plan?
Yes, all Freshman Experience participants are required to purchase a meal plan.
  2. How do I apply for the Freshman Experience Program?
When you apply for housing, you will be able to select whether or not you would like to participate in the Freshman Experience Program. If the answer is yes, you will be able to select hall preferences only from the twelve Freshman Experience residence halls.
  3. Is the Freshman Experience Program open to commuters?
Freshmen who choose to live on campus may apply for the Freshman Experience Program. Only those who are assigned a space in one of the twelve Freshman Experience residence halls are considered to be "in the program".
  4. How many participants can the Freshman Experience Program accommodate?
The Freshman Experience Program houses approximately 1,950 residents. It is limited to the twelve Freshman Experience residence halls: Brown, Caldwell, Cloudman, Fitten, Folk, Freeman, Glenn, Harrison, Howell, Montag, Smith, and Towers.

Assignments are based on latest date of application. In the case of roommate requests, the application received on the later date determines the order in which an assignment is made for the pair. If hall preference and program preferences are not identical, the preferences from the last application received will be used when making assignments.

Every effort will be made to make an assignment to your preferred building, but we cannot guarantee your choice.

  5. Am I guaranteed housing if I apply?
First-year students are guaranteed housing if they apply by the May 1st deadline.

  6. Am I guaranteed a space in the Freshman Experience Program if I apply?
There are limited spaces in the Freshman Experience Program. Application to the FE program does not guarantee a space in the Freshman Experience Program.

  7. How do I know which residence hall I should list as a preference?

    East Campus:
Freshman Experience residence halls on East Campus (Brown, Cloudman, Glenn, Harrison, Howell, Smith and Towers) are near the football stadium, baseball stadium, Coliseum, Brittain Dining Hall, the fraternity and sorority houses, Architecture building, the Georgia Tech library, and Tech Square.

    West Campus:
Freshman Experience residence halls on West Campus (Caldwell, Fitten, Folk, Freeman, and Montag) are near the Campus Recreation Center (CRC) and intramural fields, Woodruff Dining Hall, undergraduate apartments, the Student Health Services, and Engineers Bookstore.

Most freshmen take core classes during their freshman year. Classes are generally held in lecture halls in academic buildings located in the center of campus, although some take place in buildings closer to the east side of campus (i.e. Skiles and D.M. Smith).
  8. Some of my friends from high school will also be coming to Tech; can we room together?
Yes, when you apply for housing you will have an opportunity to indicate a roommate preference. If you list more than one preference, you could be placed in a triple or quad occupancy room. Roommate preference takes precedence over building preferences.
